Business Development and Selling Skills

Course Description

This course is aimed primarily at people who are expected to generate business, but who are inexperienced in how to go about this, or who would like to improve their current skillset.

All are likely to have been exposed to a sales or business development situation handled by a more senior Manager or Director, but they will have had no formal coaching, will probably lack confidence and will not yet have discovered or developed their own personal sales style.

In some companies individuals will have personal sales targets (sales or contribution expressed as a financial figure) and in some they may be responsible for business generation from a particular client.

You will learn

Participants will learn techniques, tips and ideas from an individual who is experienced in sales, with an emphasis on trying out the methods (role play) and taking away actions that they can personally implement in their own plans.

In particular:

  • Spotting opportunities for new business in all encounters with Clients including ongoing projects
  • Making the most of a sales opportunity
  • Building a network of contacts (decision makers, influencers and budget holders for your service)
  • Discovering own personal sales style (comfortable, confident and therefore credible) – “knowing what to say and do in all situations”
